Thanksgiving Farm Camp Reunion / Kids Farmer For A Day Camp

A condensed version of the farm’s weeklong sessions, where children get to explore the farm and assist farmers as they work in the fields and tend to livestock. Green Gate Farms, a certified organic farm, was established by Skip Connett and Erin Flynn in a blighted neighborhood in east Austin in 2006. Working off-farm jobs to fund their efforts, they restored a historical farm site to create a community resource for neighbors of all incomes.

The Thanksgiving Day family fun run includes a 5-mile run, a 1-mile walk and the Stepping Stone School Kids’ K. There will be live music provided by Mighty Mountain, trophies for participants and prizes for the children. The grand prize for the raffle this year will be a 2014 Honda Accord donated by First Texas Honda along with two bike packages from Mellow Johnny’s. All proceeds go to Caritas of Austin.

Austin’s own Reckless Kelly return with their 8th studio album, “Long Night Moon” on September 3, 2013. The album is the follow-up to 2011’s Grammy Nominated “Good Luck & True Love,” which took home four Lone Star Music Awards, and sent three singles to #1 on Texas Radio. Produced by band members Willy & Cody Braun, along with Lead Guitarist David Abeyta, Long Night Moon was mixed by Ray Kennedy (Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris), and features additional instrumentation from legendary steel guitar player Lloyd Maines, as well as Bukka Allen (piano, organ) and Jeff Plankenhorn (dobro).
