A New Cedar Park Bell Boulevard?

Apache Moving is proud to serve the Cedar Park area.

Have you heard of the Destination Bell Project? It is a really exciting concept, aimed at creating an identity and gathering spot for the area surrounding Bell Boulevard. The City of Cedar Park has commissioned an in-depth feasibility study for the redevelopment and revitalization of Bell Boulevard. Presently, committee members are gathering community feedback and expert input as to how best to utilize this heavily travelled commercial corridor.

One of the overarching themes that public input garnered was a need for a “destination and identity”.  Cedar Park is home to a very diverse group of people, but the common sentiment was that this community prides itself on its small town and family-oriented feel. This project aims to preserve that while creating a gathering space and defining Cedar Park’s identity.

Why Bell Boulevard?  Bell Boulevard has been hailed as the backbone of Cedar Park.  It continues to be the primary north-south corridor for the city. Many people use this route to commute to work. Car traffic is increasing while pedestrian traffic is decreasing. The shopping centers have become dated and there is a lack of walkability. The area has become more a place to pass through rather than the vital community hub it should be. The vision if for this redevelopment is to have this area become a destination and gathering place,  “fostering a sense of identity for Cedar Park”. It is also hoped to be a draw for people outside of Cedar Park. Revitalizing this commercial corridor, turning it into a thriving family-friendly destination with its own unique identity and charm.

Proposed ideas for this project include a walkable mixed use development with a hike and bike trail and preserved open spaces and creek area that were accessible.  Some have compared potential projects with other walkable mixed use development such as The Domain. However The Domain is very different because that began with a blank slate, while this project aims to incorporate existing businesses and create an eclectic assortment of businesses that are uniquely Cedar Park. It will have to incorporate the many mom-and-pops establishments that comprise the area. A development that would be more comparable to what Destination Bell is proposing would be The Triangle in Austin.

We are very excited about the future of Cedar Park! It is a dynamic community to call home and this project promises to create more opportunity for this area. We are proud to call this area home to one of Apache’s locations. We would love to help you call this area home too. Professional Movers Say: Donate Your Unwanted Stuff!

ID-10044857

Moving may be an exhausting task, but we prefer to look at the glass as half-full!   It’s an opportunity for a fresh start.  Purging yourself of things that no longer serve a purpose in your home can be gratifying in several ways. It’s the perfect excuse to get rid of unwanted items and clutter. Plus, it’s easier for your professional movers to load and unload, which saves time, so you can enjoy your new home ASAP!

If you have a difficult time letting go, like many of us do, your professional movers at Apache Moving Company recommend a few options for donating the following items, so you can feel about helping others who would greatly benefit from your used stuff!

  • Household goods

There are many organizations out there who collect donations of all kinds,  like The Salvation Army and Goodwill.  Many smaller organizations throughout Austin have storefront locations that not only accept donations, but they also help their communities by creating jobs. Most household items, clothing and bedding in particular, are needed at local shelters or other human service agencies. Check your local listings for charities and shelters in your area.

  • Clothes

There are  great organizations that are specifically seeking donations of clothing. Career Gear provides professional clothing, mentoring and life-skills to empower homeless or low income individuals by giving them the tools they need to find and keep employment.  They accept all kinds of business attire, as well as briefcases, watches and other accessories. Dress for Success is an alternate organization with a similar mission.

  • Food items

When cleaning out your pantry, consider donating (unexpired), non-perishable items to your local food bank.  Capital Area Food Bank is an amazing organization that is always in need of additional contributions.  Click here to check out the goods that are in the most demand.

  • Books

While most libraries won’t put used books on their shelves, many  have collection bins.  The books accumulated are often sold by groups such as Friends of the Library, with the profits going directly back to the library or other literacy programs. Another great place to donate books is Operation Paperback.

With almost 20 years experience as professional movers, we’ve learned a few things about the moving process.  These are just a few ways unwanted items can be given a new life with someone who really needs them. As your professional movers, our purpose is to make your relocation as easy, safe and efficient as possible. Contact us today for your free moving quote!
