A New Cedar Park Bell Boulevard?

Apache Moving is proud to serve the Cedar Park area.

Apache Moving is proud to serve the Cedar Park area.

Have you heard of the Destination Bell Project? It is a really exciting concept, aimed at creating an identity and gathering spot for the area surrounding Bell Boulevard. The City of Cedar Park has commissioned an in-depth feasibility study for the redevelopment and revitalization of Bell Boulevard. Presently, committee members are gathering community feedback and expert input as to how best to utilize this heavily travelled commercial corridor.

One of the overarching themes that public input garnered was a need for a “destination and identity”.  Cedar Park is home to a very diverse group of people, but the common sentiment was that this community prides itself on its small town and family-oriented feel. This project aims to preserve that while creating a gathering space and defining Cedar Park’s identity.

Why Bell Boulevard?  Bell Boulevard has been hailed as the backbone of Cedar Park.  It continues to be the primary north-south corridor for the city. Many people use this route to commute to work. Car traffic is increasing while pedestrian traffic is decreasing. The shopping centers have become dated and there is a lack of walkability. The area has become more a place to pass through rather than the vital community hub it should be. The vision if for this redevelopment is to have this area become a destination and gathering place,  “fostering a sense of identity for Cedar Park”. It is also hoped to be a draw for people outside of Cedar Park. Revitalizing this commercial corridor, turning it into a thriving family-friendly destination with its own unique identity and charm.

Proposed ideas for this project include a walkable mixed use development with a hike and bike trail and preserved open spaces and creek area that were accessible.  Some have compared potential projects with other walkable mixed use development such as The Domain. However The Domain is very different because that began with a blank slate, while this project aims to incorporate existing businesses and create an eclectic assortment of businesses that are uniquely Cedar Park. It will have to incorporate the many mom-and-pops establishments that comprise the area. A development that would be more comparable to what Destination Bell is proposing would be The Triangle in Austin.

We are very excited about the future of Cedar Park! It is a dynamic community to call home and this project promises to create more opportunity for this area. We are proud to call this area home to one of Apache’s locations. We would love to help you call this area home too. Tips for Packing Your Moving Boxes

Moving is a big event. It takes a lot of planning and preparation well before moving day. With so much to do, it is tempting to just throw whatever fits into moving boxes and call it a day. However, it’s important to resist the urge to cut corners and be methodical about your packing to ensure that you won’t have a huge disorganized mess.

Here are some tips to help with the packing and organizing of your moving boxes:

Come up with an organizational system that works best for you. Be sure to label boxes well as you pack. Keep moving boxes organized by room and keep a detailed inventory of each box.

Use the proper size box for your items. Small boxes should be used for books and other heavy objects. Use a box too large for heavy items and you may run the risk of the injuring someone moving it, damaging your property, or ripping the box. Aim at keeping the weight of moving boxes under 40lbs.

Use filler when packing your moving boxes. Packing paper, blankets, towels, and other linens can help protect items and help avoid boxes being crushed in transit.

Securely tape bottoms and tops of boxes with packing tape. This will safeguard against items being lost or damaged while preventing the bottoms from falling out.

Fragile items should be packed with the appropriate padding. Padding such as foam, paper, and bubble wrap are good choices.

Don’t be cheap with your packing materials. Not having the appropriate packing materials for your moving boxes could result in expensive damages, costing you more in the long run.

If packing your moving boxes still sounds overwhelming, our professional Austin residential movers will help pack all of your belongings. We can ensure a full-service move by having your items packed up safe and delivered to your new home.
